Anglesey – Penrhos, Holy Island

Land and Lakes has acquired the option to purchase over 500 acres of land at Penrhos on Holy Island, Anglesey. Our vision is to create a nationally significant eco-leisure holiday resort, which will complement the rich coastal landscape of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The site is defined by its mature woodland, grassland meadows and sweeping sandy beaches. It features nature trails, woodland walks and some historic buildings from the old Penrhos Estate. Our scheme has been carefully planned to conserve the character of this exceptional natural environment.

Our development has the potential to be transformative for local communities, generating hundreds of sustainable new jobs and training opportunities. Our plans also include a 75 acre high-quality residential housing scheme, half of which will be designated affordable housing for local people.

The site at Penrhos is currently owned by Anglesey Aluminium Metals (AAM), a joint venture between the Rio Tinto Group and Kaiser Aluminium. AAM closed in 2009 with the loss of 400 jobs.

Out of the decline of this industrial past we believe there is an opportunity to create a legacy that rejuvenates local communities and promotes economic viability for generations to come.
