Charitable Causes

Kingmoor Park Charitable Trust

The Kingmoor Park Charitable Trust was set up in 2004 and has since donated more than £3m to local causes including sponsorship of two Academies in Carlisle. Brian Scowcroft, Chairman of the KPCT was also instrumental in drawing down over £5m of Big Lottery funding to create a brand new, purpose built Youth Zone. Brian remains one of the principal funders of this new facility.

Whilst the trust has recently concentrated on educational projects it has donated funds to a wider variety of projects in the past including the Breast Cancer Unit, Cumberland Infirmary, Mencap, Cumbria Cerebral Palsy, Eden Valley Hospice, James Rennie School, Carlisle and many more.

The Carlisle Youth Zone

The Carlisle Youth Zone opened its doors in 2011 and welcomes all young people aged 8-21 (and up to 25 for those with disabilities and/or learning difficulties). It serves the social, recreational and emotional needs of young people of Carlisle whenever their schools are closed.

The Carlisle Youth Zone is a charity that believes passionately in giving the young people of Carlisle the best start in life by providing state-of-the-art youth facilities and developing young people’s ideas and aspirations into engaging and meaningful activities. It works with young people of all backgrounds, abilities and ages, and encourages personal responsibility, tolerance, ambition and a sense of belonging and community.
